And the fun rolled on..
I picked up some Kale at the Farmer's market and was so excited about it! I looked up a recipe that called for it and found a crockpot chicken, white bean and quinoa recipe that also included Kale. Talk about some good protein!! Here is my creation:
It was so delicious!!! But after we ate it, the crockpot got turned off and forgotten on the kitchen counter when we went to bed…it was a sad day!! I've since made several batches of this soup…it's versatile and never disappoints!
One evening after the boys were bathed from playing out and settled in to watch a movie, I wandered out to watch Jer throw some baskets and found the fire flies going crazy…it's hard to see in this photo…but if you look you can see a few flickers my phone picked up. The yard was full of tiny lights. One the coolest things about a huge back yard in the summer!!
We spent a day swimming with family…and fun was had by all!!
Greyson went for one of his first outdoor swims!
After our awesome swim date, we met up with Grandma for the boys first taste of Tropical Sno. I was so excited to see a stand appear in a shopping plaza up the road from our house! Needless to say from the pictures we had a fun first trip…and the boys spent most of the rest of the summer asking to go there!
My least favorite part of our vacation was the dishwasher replacement. It took all day and was no small task to replace! Thanks to wonderful help from family it was accomplished in half as long as it would have taken Jer by himself! And not having to hand wash dishes anymore when you have a baby with bottles and kiddos with milk cups and everyday dishes was a blessing!!
Part of our vacation included setting up overnight plans for our kiddos and going on a whole day adventure together! I'm not sure what spurred it but we took off on a trip to Raging Rivers and spent a whole afternoon in the wave pool, on the lazy river and basking in the sun. It reminded me of when we were teenagers and would spend a day out doing just this very thing.
Raging Rivers is not complete with a Dip'n'Dots trip!
After we closed up shop at RR we headed home to clean up and decided to grab Bella Milano for dinner. It was the most delicious meal and we enjoyed every minute of our husband and wife time!!
I forget what they called these cocktails…but boy were they potent!
Taking a selfie in the car. Post dinner and drinks. Thus the crummy quality!
The next day we got word from my parents that Coop decided he needed to potty on the potty and had been doing so multiple times for them! We got him home and kept the good vibes rolling…within a week he was potty trained both ways. I'm not sure if it's because Owen took so long and God gave us grace or if we simply gave him the space he needed to decide when he was ready (I hadn't been pushing him) but just two months shy of turning 3 we were sporting big boy underpants and barely having any accidents! So proud of him!! We officially only had one kiddo in diapers! Yay!
Our last weekend of Jeremy's vacation we decided to stick around here. We played in the yard, worked on a few house projects and did some cleaning and catch up so we could hit the ground running when he headed back to work. One of the projects was this:
We hung 6 comics from a huge collection of Grandpa Mike's comic books on our wall. I could not be happier about these album frames I found at Target. Cheap and easy! And it's nice to have a piece of Mike we can share with the boys that is more than just pictures and stories. These were his books that he read and collected.
The last night of our staycation I sat down with a glass of wine and the bucket list I created. I was pretty darn happy with all the check marks on our list because it meant we fulfilled almost all of our wish list items! I plan to do something similar this summer. Such fun!
And at the very end of a pretty amazing week and a half off together, I sat down across from this guy to play a game and talk about our week…I could not ask for a better partner for this journey. So thankful he's mine. We are a blessed family with so much to be thankful for. God is good to us.
