We kicked off our glorious weekend on Friday by taking Owen to see Cars 2. It was his first ever real movie theatre experience. He was such a good boy!!! We went to a 10am showing so it was nice and early. We got inside and bought him a juice from the concession stand and some Reese Pieces for us to share! We also packed him his favorite snacks in his snack cup, just in case. When we got there the lights were down so we found our way to a close seat on the aisle and got settled. We got Owen a big boy booster, but he wanted no part of it. Our laps were exactly where he wanted to sit through the whole entire thing! He held his little ears at the beginning because they had it turned up so loud…but after about 20 minutes, he had adjusted and didn’t need to hold them anymore. We were so proud of how well he did with this. I’m still in a bit of disbelief. Only once or twice he turned around to see what was up behind him...he said a few Wows and Uh oh's…but the movie quickly re-captivated him with lots of action scenes.
I have a random tradition of saving movie ticket stubs from movies that Jer and I went to. I have stubs from the first one we ever saw together in 8th grade!! I fully intend to save Owen's tickets stubs and put them in his scrapbook for him. It's something I hope to continue with our family as we see movies and enjoy times like this together!!
It was such a fun experience to take him to a theatre to see a movie! We can’t wait to pick another one to take him too :)
