An update from the vacation trenches...

Who I am kidding?  Vacation and trenches don't even belong in the same sentence!!  Unless the trenches of vacation include, sleeping in, taking naps, no responsiblities, a beautiful ocean view and some white sandy beach between your toes whenever you feel like it...then ok.  We're deep in the trenches of vacation!!  But before we got too far along...I wanted to stop and do a vacation recap so far:

Starbucks is the perfect way to kick off an airport wait!

Mimosas are an even better way to wait out a layover!
Breakfast Tacos courtesy of TGI Friday's...amazing!!

Jer enjoying his Breakfast BLT.  It was also amazing!! As far as meals go, best breakfast we've had in a LONG time.

Pensacola Beach.  Our first stop after picking up our rental car was an open stretch of public beach.

It was simply gorgeous!!

After a walk on the beach, we did some more driving/exploring and wound up at a state park and Fort Pickens.  The beaches and coast line are virtually untouched...it was absolutely amazing (more For Pickens pictures when I get a chance to download my real camera full of photos!).

After a day of exploring, we stopped for dinner at a place the guy from the Hertz counter recommended.  Flounder's Chowder House was the place of choice.  What a most delicious choice!  We left full, sleepy and excited about the next few days that lay ahead of us.

Day one brought us a day of firsts.  First layover between flights. First time in Texas and the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport.  First time getting a rental car.  First time in a national park on an ocean. First time in Pensacola. First time visiting a historic fort. Whew!  What a first day!

On day two, after a walk on the beach in front of our hotel, we took off towards our Gulf Shores destination...with a stop at the Naval Aviation Museum.  And landed ourselves here.  At a beach house in Fort Morgan with this view!

More on that leg of our trip to come!

For now, we're gonna get back to vacationing :)  Orange Beach and Florbama here we come!!
