Antiquing & Soda Fountains, Mother’s Day & back yard revamps, and PANSIES!

I read a few blogs that sometimes write about several things in one post.  I usually try to break them down by subject...and do one post at a time, but then lots of times things get forgotten about so I thought I'd give this a try :)  I had a few random things I wanted to share with you…and I thought they would all fit in one post!

A couple Saturdays ago, we took off on a Linoski adventure to Lebanon, IL. We just so happened to happen upon their Spring Festival so the streets were busy with sidewalk sales and hanging baskets and everything in between!  Our day was complete with some antique shopping, street vendor browsing, lunch at a working soda fountain and delicious apple crisp dessert.  It was a wonderful afternoon with beautiful weather and fun memories!  Steff posted some pics here. (She's one of the blogs I mentioned above that does multiple items in a post which I love!)  Below are a few of the photos I took as well.  I really need to be better about pulling my camera out more.  I took it and got some shots, but I realize I get into the moment of whatever I’m doing and don’t step back to take photos!  It’s a MUST change about my photo taking habits!

We celebrated Mother’s Day this year with some planting and time spent in our yard outside!  It was a beautiful day and I spent it just how I wanted…with the two amazing men in my life :) Here are some photos of us picking up a shrub that we got for Grandma PJ for Mother's Day.  She just so happened to point it out the day before, so I knew exactly what to get her this year!  Thanks Mom!

On Mother's Day I mentioned to Jer that I had my brain working on a project to dress up a bare spot in our yard…and part of my Mother’s included the purchases to make that happen!!  Here’s a pic of the space in all its glory. I love how much of a difference a couple chairs, a whiskey barrel with some plants and a couple throw pillows can make!  My husband is responsible for the mini chair you see there. He found them for $6 at Dollar General one day...and when I showed him the chairs I wanted at Target, he knew these mini-versions were a perfect fit.  Owen's little tushy fits into it perfectly!!

So this year I finally got pansies to grow past May!!  I dare say they may still be around come Memorial Day and early June.  For me this is unusual. I'm guessing it's our cooler, rainy weather!  But I am loving how tall and full they've gotten. This is 2 six-packs of a jumbo variety.  I planted them just before Owen's birthday...and they are fuller and healthier than ever!
