2015 Summer Run Down - July

Feeding the ducks!

After we fed the ducks we headed to Walmart…and there we discovered Color Alive coloring books from Crayola.  The boys spent the better part of 2 hours coloring pictures and using the iPad to bring them to life!  Pretty fun little activity for the afternoon!
I even got in on the coloring action.
Think we've had some antibiotics in this house??  Sheesh!!
We had lots and lots of rain in June…and it brought a flood.

More swimming lessons!!
A new favorite…on sale at Sams.  I single-handedly ate the entire box we bought from Sams.  So yummy!!
Reagan cookin'!!
Surveying the flood waters with the boys!!

There is usually a road here. They had to change the north bound lanes of 367 into two way traffic.  It doesn't happen often!

Green beans from Dad's garden!
Zuch's from Dad's garden!
One night while eating a slushy…his tooth fell right into his spoon…true story! He kept saying he was going to wait for it…it'll come out when its ready! He was right! Tooth number 4 down!

A 4th of July swim party at Aunt April and Uncle Jonnie's...
Waiting for lunch to grill up!  He was trying to be patient…ha!

Delicious homemade ice cream with all the toppings you could want! YUM!

It got the Cooper vanilla ice cream seal of approval!!
After swimming and BBQing we took off for home to change clothes and change gears!  We met up at Grandma and Grandpa's with Uncle Josh and Aunt Katie for some dinner and to head to the fireworks together!
Ahh brothers...

Throw in a few with Grandpa for good measure!
Have you seen this smile before??  If you look to Dad's right…you'll see it in a smaller version!

Now Grandma joins the crowd!

The waiting begins and Greyson's already met a friend!

I love this tradition…seeing awesome fireworks in our hometown with our wonderful family.  Can't beat it!
On our way to church…and looking super fly!  I mean, if Mickey Mouse on your shades is fly of course!!

In love with this stuff!!  The end.
While Hannah was on her summer break from teaching I told her we needed to have a zoo day or some sort of fun day with the boys!  The zoo was the place of choice and it was a blast from start to finish!  Mom kept Greyson so he could have some play time and I could enjoy some time with my older two!

This kid is serious about his cupcakes!  He waited while they baked the entire time just like this. Sitting on a stool, peeking in every few minutes and playing a game on the iPad.  Cracked me up!
Miss Reagan turned 1…and we celebrated with a backyard bash for the record books!

This lawn chair was mine and my brothers when we were little.  Greyson was NOT amused when I asked him about giving it a try.

A little bags tournament…where the boys walked the bags back and forth between the two boxes.  I like their style.
Opening presents.  I literally had to leave the room because despite my insistence that they stop helping her, Uncle Josh and Aunt Katie were totally fine with letting the boys steal the show…and show off Reagan's presents to the guests.  One point boys.  No points Mom!!  And now I can almost laugh about  how mad I was at those two!!  Almost.
Cake time!!!

A hot day, plus ice cubes, 3 crazy kids AND crazy Uncle Doug equal some serious fun!!

The same day…we celebrated Ryder turning 3!!  How time flies!!

It was a HOT day!!!
July 13th we headed to Children's new Specialty Care Center for tubes.  Greyson was recovering from ear infection number 12.  Yes 12.  It seems insane to even say he had that many…but our doctor's office considers retreats of previous infections another infection…so yep.  We were healing from good ol' number 12.  We tried going to the chiropractor for awhile and it helped briefly…but the cost was getting out of control and it also wasn't fending them off enough to make it worth it!  The list of antibiotics was nuts as well.  We went from Amoxicillin to Augmentin…then Cefdinir to Clarythromyacin (not spelled right I know!) and finally Suprax…and back to Cefdinir. And there were some repeats in between these.  It was to the point that we knew the day they started simply based on his behavior…it included lack of sleep, lack of appetite and general crabby attitudes…which who can blame the dude?  They got to the point where they made me crabby and the lack of sleep?  Ouch! Thank the good Lord for modern medicine though because we are embarking on month 3 without any infections…and that is honest to goodness our longest stretch in his 19 months of life without one!  Yay for ear tubes!  For the record the procedure was a piece of cake!!  I had flash backs of Owen's eye surgery causing me serious anxiety prior to Greyson's…BUT he got to stay in his jammies, no iv, and we were back home before lunch with a happy, normal Greyson!  He did take a nice long 4 hour nap, but otherwise he has had ear infections that made him far more miserable than this!!
Fresh blackberries from our very own backyard!
Dress up!
My brother's buddy he met up while golfing…the Amazon called and they want their anaconda back!!!!!
More dress up!!

By day he goes by Greyson.  But during his stunts…it's Evil Knievel...

The boys participated in our church's Vacation Bible School program this summer…it was all about water and they had an awesome time!!!
Stocking up for the apocalypse.  Oh wait…I mean going to Wisconsin!

Getting on the road to Wisconsin…they are pretty cool…shh…don't let it go to their heads!
We arrived at our "resort"…which was actually a motel in the disguise of great internet pictures...on the first day of our trip…and to say it was gross was an understatement.  I've never stayed somewhere that I didn't want to sleep on the beds or walk on the floor.  Absolutely worst place I've ever stayed…BUT…we did what we always try to do.  Make lemonade out of lemons.  Sure I might have requested a little vodka in my lemonade…but I'm proud of us because we certainly made the best of it.  We got our stuff dropped off, tried calling the front desk and had no luck moving our rooms.  So we decided it's just for one night.  We would all survive!  So after a quick drop of bags we took off on our first Wisconsin Dells adventure!

His feet were clean before we hit our room.  This was after less than 5 minutes of wandering around and exploring the room.  GROSS!!!
Our first stop was to ride the Ducks.  And oh how fun it was!!

He was not happy about something he saw and wanted to do and while we waited he pouted.

Anyone ever seen Zoolander???
We attempted a selfie…and failed.

This kid LOVED the duck ride soooo much!!

Wisconsin is just a beautiful place.  I love visiting…and sometimes pretend one day we might move here.  Then I remember it's summertime…so of course it's beautiful.  It's not January with 8 foot of snow. Still…a girl can day dream!
He passed out!
After our ducks ride and some dinner…we headed to the amusement park at our resort.  There was lots to check out…and the kids requested to ride this roller coaster.
Then we headed to go-carts. There was an incident at the end of our ride where a kid who was too young was allowed to drive a cart…came flying into us at full speed while we were at a dead stop.  Both owen and I ended up crying.  It scared me.  As crazy as this may sound…the impact reminded me so much of our truck accident back in college I couldn't shake it.  Owen and I were having so much fun…and then BAM.  It wasn't fun anymore.  And it scared me the rest of our trip for everything he wanted to try…all the what-if's came flooding into my mind.  And I had to take Advil because my neck hurt so bad afterwards…Owen needed an ice pack from first aid.  So far we were trying to make the best of things…and the test of wills just kept on coming!!
Here we are before the crash!

After the go-carts, we rode a few more rides for the kids and then we took off for some rest.  We slept in long sleeves and on top of our blankets…it was restless but a few hours was better than none!  We woke the next morning to this:
And my feet looks like this after I walked around for a few minutes gathering up our things to check out. Insert a vomitting face.
We loaded up to head to the water park…in the rain and chilly weather.  Isabel's face says it all!
After a few blue lipped rides down some water slides…and us hoping for it to clear up…we changed clothes, grabbed pizza at a place called Pizza Villa (delish!) and headed for our final destination, Madison Wisconsin, where we would spend time at the family farm!  This beautiful sight greeted us…and in no time we sprawled out in a clean room and hit our swim suits for a nice warm swim in an indoor pool!!
To our wonderful delight our hotel had a happy hour with free and $1 drinks!  It was so nice and relaxing!  Warm pool, family time and a cocktail.  Finally it felt like vacation!

Greyson slept 12 hours that next night in the crib our hotel provided. It was awesome sleep for everyone…and I think he was happy to have something semi-familiar to call a bed!!
This little nugget did an escaping act while I took a shower and Daddy, Owen and Grey went for breakfast. I heard the door, thought it was everyone coming back.  I peeked out and saw he was gone.  Yep.  Down the hall…talking to lady asking why his family left him alone.  I never thought he'd be able to open that door.  Nor did I think he wouldn't see me standing in the bathroom drying my hair.  Lesson learned.  Lock the big bolt at the top if Cooper is in the room…or you just might find him wandering the halls!
After everyone ate and got themselves together, we headed to the Linley family farm.  But not before Isabel fell and had to go to urgent care for stitches.  I could not make this up!!  They got to the farm about 3 hours after us.  BUT once they got there we were a complete crew again and we did our best to keep her stitches from getting wet on the water slide!!  There was delicious food, awesome weather and amazing fun to be had all around!!
The kids table.
Holly and Jamie brought this awesome water slide for us to play on.  Every single kid thought it was the best thing ever…so after a tractor ride around the farm we suited up and played the day away.

Grey needed a snack break!!
Summer at its finest!!
And that wraps up the insanity that was our annual Wisconsin trip this summer.  Oh wait…the week before our trip Jeremy's manager resigned and he was asked to attend a conference in Cincinnati. That meant he had to leave our family vacation to catch a plane and get to his destination on Sunday evening.  He originally planned to take a couple days off when we got home too just to be off with us.  Well like the rest of our trip and honestly our summer…our plans got changed.  And Sunday we loaded up, dropped him at the airport in Madison and began our 5 and a half hour drive home without him.  Stacey rode with me so I had some adult company and the kids did amazing!!  I was even greeted by parents when I got home and Dad helped me unload the car!  We were snuggled in our pi's by bedtime that night and though we missed Daddy we sure were glad to be home!

Daddy took the vacation karma with him though.  He lost a dress shirt to an iron at the hotel in Ohio…and ended up having to replace it at a local Target.  We were never so glad to have him home later that week.
I may or may not have send this to him while he was on this trip though...
It got real hot in July!!
This stuff does what it says.  Wonders for my hair!!
Jackie and I went to get massages and grab dinner and drinks one night…it was marvelous and this blueberry beer is to die for!!
We wrapped up this crazy month with a park trip with Grandma.  We went early in the morning but it still was short lived because the heat hit fast!!  We made the best of it though!!

Wow July…looking back you were quite a month!!!  August brings school and routines and I was definitely looking forward to some of that!!
