May 2015

Remains of my flowers…these just kept on chugging!!
More van time waiting on Owen…we did a lot of this last year…and are again this year.  Greyson did a lot of sleeping during this time…so it was just some time for me and Coop.  This particular day we stopped and got gas across the river…and then parked at Lincoln Shields to watch the river and wildlife.  Here he tried to convince me to let him sit shotgun...
Then a man came by and spent 20 minutes putting his boat in the water. He watched the entire thing and waved goodbye as he got too far to see anymore.  I have no idea what I'm going to do when this little guy heads to Kindergarten next year and isn't here waiting with me…but waiting on the other side of that door!  Sniff!!
Another day, another donut shop trip! It's funny to see how much he's changed over the school year too.  He went from zippy cups, footy pjs and not walking…to a straw using, walking, jabbering toddler!

Chocolate face!
Dismantling the couch.
I sure do love these three kiddos.
A fun new tradition for us is Truck Day at Glazebrook Park.  Our city does it every year and this year we got to enjoy it with Case, Peyton and their Mommy!  We started with a picnic lunch…then loaded up and headed over to see some Big Trucks! Fun was had by all!!

Grey's first time enjoying the water table!

Owen loves candy cookies.  Especially the expensive ones from Bread Company.  I love them too…but I tried my hand at making a homemade version so we could have them on hand around here rather than needing to go a drive thru.  They are a hit and highly popular with all of the men in my house!!
One warm morning this month we met up with Katie and Reagan for a walk!  After our walk we stopped for breakfast at a place near the preschool.  It was delicious and the kids were so awesome!  Katie, we need to do this again!  Soon!!

I love this little nugget!!  Always has a smile on her face and a curiosity for what's going on around here!
And that smile!!
We took a field trip to the zoo with Owen's class toward the middle of May.  This was one of those trips where you get there and wish you'd stay in bed.  We walked into the zoo and the much anticipated massive rain storm hit.  We continued on in the rain the rest of the day…but we were all freezing, wet and miserable.  On top of it as the day wore on I knew something wasn't right with Owen.  He had his hands in his mouth constantly and when I would try to get him to talk to me about it he would run away.  About half way through he finally confessed his throat hurt really bad.  Strep was running rampant through the school.  We got an appt when we got back in town and sure enough….he had strep!

Cleaning house for a yard sale!
We said goodbye to our carseat…it served us well!  I shed a tear because it was over. But because it was expired, we cut the straps and threw it away!  That's putting it through the paces if you ask me!
Deci is getting old.  13 in September.  Her health has declined more and more.  She is a crazy girl, but we sure do love her.
At swim lessons for the boys!
Owen moved up a level really quickly.
Cooper told us repeatedly he was just going to sink.  He did not want to go back!
I have a similar picture for each of the boys in front of this door.  Though I don't love living off a busy road all the time…the kids have all loved watching the cars, trucks, fire trucks and other goings on that happen!

He likes sitting like a big boy.  After Grandma passed away we inherited her table.  We have plans to refinish it sooner rather than later, but we are enjoying the height and the kids being able to climb in and out the chairs on their own for now!
Since we became zoo members a few years ago, the zoo is often a choice for us when we want to stay busy for a day.  We have our usual parking spot, our animals we love to see, our lunch break spots and even our favorite ice cream joint!  My favorite part though is when other join us!!  On one of our first trips of the spring Josh, Katie and Reagan joined us. Such fun!!  And a far cry from the rainy, disgusting strep throat adventure I had just been on with Owen.

Selfie at Old Bakery Beer Company…we stopped off for a beer since we were a little early to head to STL. We were heading off to celebrate April's 30th birthday!
Date night number 2…not sure how we scored these so close together but I'm not complaining!  Heading to drop the kids.
We decided to go to check out a movie at this new Streets of St. Charles movie theatre…and afterwards we drove a few minutes to one of my favorite places for burgers. Bailey's Range.
Maple Bourbon Sour.
Delicious!
Boozy shakes for good measure.  Perfect cap to a perfect date.  A favorite of mine in a long time!
Owen came down with influenza b shortly after the strep hit him.  He missed his entire last week of school as the flu lasted 9-10 days.  We actually hit day 9 before the fever finally left.  It was insane, exhausting and disheartening because it was not how I wanted to kick off the summer.  After the passing of my grandma, strep throat, flu and missing all the fun of the end of the year I was having a discouraged day.  But I had to remember that I wasn't in control. These words came to me and shortly after peace.  I tried to enjoy the good excuse to not leave the house for a few days…and prayed no one else got it!  Thankfully it stopped with him!

Cooper broke his first (and hopefully last) window.  He put his hands right through it.  It was a scary moment in our household.  Thankfully it was just a few scratches and it happened with Jeremy was home so he would help patch it up and clean up the glass!
And that was May!!  Quite a month!!
